LOVE, LABOUR, LOSS

(SOME METAPHORS FOR BLOOD AND HONEY)

2022

LOVE, LABOUR, LOSS
2022

Love, Labour, Loss is produced from seemingly insignificant everyday images - of swarms of bees found dead in streets and terraces of suburban  . This image, encountered by most city dwellers, is often insignificantly forgotten; until one connects the hidden forms of images- larger truths of environmental disasters technological innovations of pesticides and other larger than life truths having seemingly insignificant forces. In this precarity, the work attempts to monumentalise this image in the form of a soft sculpture, with toy-like bees strewn on the floor. A spectre looming, emanating to produce a sensory response to a larger than life feminine form, leaving earth but arrested mid air.

Velvet fabric, polyester filler, iron armature
