PRIMAL REMINDERS
( A PRECARIOUS BALANCE )
2017
Some archetype images have been constructed in this work. Archetypes, in some ways allow a sense
of trans-cultural meaning and provide a psychological capacity to assimilate differences. Archetype
images from nature lend themselves to a language that is understood across cultures. Cultural and
social differences can be kept aside, in the reading and understanding of archetypes.
I have assimilated visuals through varying qualities of materials, textures, and movement to evoke
sensory perception of slowness. I have also tried to locate images from agrarian and rural societies that
are closer to nature. Images that may also be reminders of working class lives: of collecting twigs and
pilling them for the end of the day to create the hearth at home, the jute sack which is often used to
store grains and other agriculture commodities.
